EVA_TIBAS - Evaluation of a flexible and integrative psychiatric care model in child and adolescent psychiatry in Tübingen, Germany

A new flexible and integrated treatment model project was established at the child and adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital in Tübingen. The orientation of the model project is a more cross-sectoral service provision through more flexible treatment intensities. The evaluation of the model project is based on anonymized claims data from statutory health insurance funds supplemented by quantitative and qualitative primary data.

The primary goals of the model project are to decrease the duration of inpatient stays while magnifying outpatient forms of treatment, to reduce the cumulative psychiatric treatment duration and the emergency admission rate, the reduction of the amount of symptoms, acceleration of the return to psychosocial living conditions and to improve the overall quality of life. Through the use of qualitative research methods, the satisfaction with and the subjective uses of the social service of the AOK Baden-Württemberg, as well as the cooperation of this social service with the University Hospital Tübingen, will be examined in more detail. The costs of the model care would likley not exceed those of the primary care and if then, would at most amount to the same costs, while attaining better results in regard to the above-mentioned patient-related goals.

The overall project management is at the Center for Evidence-Based Healthcare at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus at the Technische Universität Dresden, and the department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus at the Technische Universität Dresden. The Institute of Social Medicine and Health Services Research at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg is responsible for the reception and the processing of the claims data from statutory health insurance funds.
