New Appointment Strengthens Neuroscience Research
June 30, 2026 - UMMD continues to expand its research on neurological disorders: Prof. Dr. Tino Zähle will assume the W3 professorship in Medical Psychology effective July 1, 2026. His work focuses on new methods for specifically influencing the brain—for example, to better treat distressing symptoms such as fatigue, or pathological exhaustion.
New Approaches to the Treatment of PMDD
June 29, 2026 - Month after month, women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) struggle with severe mood swings, anxiety, and exhaustion. Neuroscientist Dr. phil. Maria Kühne of UMMD is investigating whether gentle vagus nerve stimulation can effectively alleviate these symptoms. For this innovative research approach, she received the Young Investigator Award from the Faculty of Medicine at OVGU Magdeburg.
Conducting Research on Mental Health
