Christine Michelfeit-Schaper Will Remain Director of Nursing at UMMD
The Supervisory Board of Magdeburg University Hospital has decided to reappoint Christine Michelfeit-Schaper as Director of Nursing and a member of the Executive Board of Magdeburg University Hospital A.ö.R. for another six years. With this decision, the Supervisory Board is prioritizing continuity while also recognizing her many years of experience, professional expertise, and commitment to nursing at Magdeburg University Hospital.
Since the summer of 2021, Christine Michelfeit-Schaper has headed the Nursing Directorate at Magdeburg University Medical Center, where she is responsible for, among other things, nursing, therapy, social services, the training center, and the patient support service. Prior to this, she had already served as acting director of nursing. Born in 1976, the Director of Nursing has been with Magdeburg University Medical Center for 30 years, where she began her professional career as a nurse. Over the years, she has held various positions of responsibility—including ward manager and head of nursing services—and has consistently advocated for the interests of employees and the continued improvement of nursing care quality.
Ms. Michelfeit-Schaper expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her: “I am very pleased about this reappointment and the opportunity to continue actively shaping the future of Magdeburg University Medical Center. My particular focus in the coming years will continue to be on further strengthening nursing care—by ensuring good working conditions for our employees, a high quality of care for our patients, and the consistent advancement of nursing concepts.”
Minister of Science Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, who also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Magdeburg University Hospital, offers his congratulations: “From nurse to Director of Nursing—Christine Michelfeit-Schaper learned her profession from the ground up and has continuously developed her skills along the way. I am pleased that we at Magdeburg University Medical Center can continue to count on her many years of expertise in patient care and nursing—and thus also on continuity within the University Hospital’s Executive Board during challenging times. This benefits both patients and employees.”
During Christine Michelfeit-Schaper’s tenure, a special focus was placed on the implementation of new nursing structures and the expansion of training programs.
By extending her appointment, Magdeburg University Medical Center is placing its trust in an experienced leader who will continue to play a key role in shaping the strategic development of the nursing division in the future.
